Man held in serial burglary case

KOCHI: In a major breakthrough, the police have arrested Ambayattod Ashraf, 24, wanted in many theft and robbery cases, in connection with the serial burglary at 15 shops near the Kaloor stadium at Palarivattom on February 19.As many as 30-odd cases of theft and pickpocketing have been registered against Ashraf in Kozhikode and Malappuram districts. He was accompanied by Vishwaraj, a jailmate, in the burglary.On questioning, it has been found that he was involved in around 40 thefts cases in North Paravoor, Kunnamkulam and  Palakkad. Another accomplice, Mujeeb, has been arrested from the Pattambi Railway station, who is in remand.
