BANGALORE: In a bid to address the problems faced by the common man due to corruption, the Lokayukta has decided for a tour of the state starting September 12.Both Upa-Lokayuktas would accompany him on the tour.Addressing a press meet here on Friday, Lokayukta Justice Shivaraj Patil said as the first phase of his tour he would visit Gulbarga, Raichur, Yadagiri and Bidar districts between September 12 and 17 and would cover all districts of the state in the next six months.“During our visits, the public can seek redress to their problems directly.In the meantime, we will also look into the cases that are left unsolved.Interactions with NGOs, public, teachers and students to gather their suggestions to curb corruption,” said Patil.Meanwhile, he also expressed his displeasure with the government for revoking suspension of corrupt officials, who are suspended after Lokayukta raids or trapped while taking bribe.He also informed that he had written to the government to amend the law in this connection.“Earlier, the government used to ask Lokayukta before revoking suspension of corrupt officers.But, the law were amended in 1984 and after that the government revoke suspensions and some have also got promotions,” he added.
