BANGALORE: The Lokayukta court on Friday ordered issuance of summons to former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, Housing Minister V Somanna and two others in an illegal land denotification case, to appear before the court on April 30.Lokayukta Judge N K Sudhindra Rao directed Yeddyurappa, Somanna, his wife and one Lingaraju to appear before the court without fail. On March 21, Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police Prasanna V Raju filed a ‘B’ report stating that Somanna was neither an MLA nor a minister when the land was denotified and therefore no case existed against him.Somanna was absolved of charges of “misusing his position” in the case. The others accused in the case, including Yeddyurappa, were also absolved of the charges. But the complainant had challenged the ‘B’ report on March 29, alleging that Somanna misused his position as a minister to denotify 22 guntas of land in Nagadevanahalli village for an educational institution run by his wife, despite the land having been acquired by the Bangalore Development Authority.Later, all the four accused moved the Karnataka High Court for anticipatory bail.
