BANGALORE: The Basavanagudi police arrested a money-lender for allegedly harassing public by charging exorbitant interest rates. The accused Lakshmana, 42, owner of a laundry shop, is a resident of Gavipuram Guttahalli.Police said that the accused was running State Dry Cleaners, a laundry shop, on DVG Road, and used to lend loans to people and harassed them by charging high interest rates. Based on a tip-off, his shop was raided and he was arrested. Police seized blank cheques, promissory notes worth Rs 40 lakh, a mobile phone and cash from him.A case has been registered at Basavanagudi police station in this connection.
