New Delhi: While Samsung is busy hyping the Galaxy S IV, its arch-rivals are endeavouring to take a dig at the upcoming smartphone. After Apple, which attacked Samsung and its upcoming smartphone on the eve of the Galaxy S IV launch, LG takes a dig at Samsung's hype campaign.
Samsung is using the numeral "4" a lot in the Galaxy S IV advertisements. And this numeral is very common and hence can be copied by anyone, easily. And that is what LG has done. Using the numeral 4 in its Optimus G advertisement, LG has placed billboards just above Samsung's Times Square billboards, hours before the official announcement of the Galaxy S IV smartphone.
LG has copied the style of Samsung's teaser posters in its new ads to upstage the rival and promote its own Optimus G smartphone.
LG's new ads are apparently brighter than Samsung's teaser ads. LG's new ads carry slogans - "LG Optimus G is here 4 you now" and "It'll take more than 4 to equal one LG Optimus G".
Earlier, Apple Inc marketing chief Phil Schiller attacked Google Inc's "fragmented" Android software and its biggest adopter, Samsung Electronics, a day before the Korean firm takes the wraps off its latest flagship smartphone in the United States.
The marketing chief's rare attack on a rival, on the eve of the Galaxy S4's global premier in New York, underscores the extent of the pressure piled upon a company that once stood the undisputed leader of the smartphone arena, but ceded its crown to Samsung in 2012.
Schiller, in an interview on Wednesday, told Reuters that Google's own research showed the vast majority of Android users were stuck on older versions of the software, and that Samsung's new phone itself may debut with a year-old operating system that will need updating.
