Kerala pipe bomb: Second plotter held

Kottayam: The Piravom pipe bomb probe reached a successful culmination on Monday with the arrest of Santhosh, the accomplice of Senthil, who together planted the bomb on the railway track near Piravom Road Railway station on Thursday.

Santhosh, 35, of Mudasseril house, Veliyandu at Edakkattuvayal, was held from his hiding place at a rubber plantation at Edakkattuvayal, a few km from his residence. Senthil had been arrested from Shoranur on Saturday. Santhosh’s relative, Anoop, 24, of Manakkapparambil house, Mrala, near Thodupuzha, who provided him ammonium nitrate and detonators, was also taken into custody and interrogated.

The probe team unearthed six detonators from another rubber plantation near Santhosh’s house. The police team headed by Kottayam SP C Rajagopal quizzed Santhosh. He was taken to various places connected with the case and confessed to his part in the crime, police said. He had attempted suicide while in hiding and sustained injuries on his head, police said.
