MYSORE: Commending police for ensuring peace in the state, Governor HR Bharadwaj said that Karnataka police is the best in the country.He said, “in the last two years, I have seen that they have done tremendous job and came out with flying colours.” The Governor added that Karnataka police has a tradition in protecting the weaker sections of the society. “We are proud that IPS officers and their subordinates are working honestly.They should be given facilities like housing and transport,” he observed.He was speaking after releasing ‘Shreeraksha’, a compilation of articles presented in the seminar that was conducted on the occasion of Post-Centenary Silver Jubilee of Karnataka Police-125 at a function organised by Prathibha Samsat and Karnataka Police at Centenary Auditorium of Maharaja College on Wednesday.The Governor said that the frequent transfers are a setback to the performance of police and prevent the cops from discharging their duties.Referring to the reforms brought in the Police Department during NDA regime, Bharadwaj said that the policy makers should bring reforms, such as prevention of unnatural custodial death and other issues.H R Bharadwaj’s wife Prafulata Bharadwaj, DC PS Vastrad, IGP Southern Range ASN Murthy, City Police Commissioner Sunil Agarwal, DCPs Rajendra Prasad and Basavaraj Malagatti and Prathibha Samsat president M Shivakumara Swamy were among those present.
