HYDERABAD: Endowments Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao on Tuesday submitted his resignation to Governor ESL Narasimhan to "prove his commitment to the Telangana cause."Though he had sent his resignation to party chief Sonia Gandhi and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on March 3rd itself, it has not yet been accepted. He had stated in his letter to Kiran Kumar Reddy that he wanted to mobilise all sections of the society in favour of a separate Telangana state and claimed he was quitting the Cabinet to demonstrate his commitment to the T cause. He did begin a padayatra, christened Telangana Prajabhiyan, in Mahabubnagar district on March 28 but was forced to defer the same on May 22 following an ugly spat with his colleague from the same district, Information and Public Relations Minister DK Aruna, who refused to let him walk through her constituency Gadwal as he did not take her into confidence.Krishna Rao was closeted with the Chief Minister after his meeting with the Governor. He insisted that his resignation be accepted immediately. Though the party is not worried over his padayatra, it is concerned that if he does resume his walkathon, he may target Aruna and brand her an integrationist.Fuelling the party's fears, Krishna Rao, speaking to reporters, said, "If they (Aruna) are really keen on Telangana, let them resign and join hands with me to bring pressure on the Centre. I have a specific agenda. I want to mobilise all sections for Telangana. But they do not have any agenda. They do not spell out their stand. All that they want is to obstruct my yatra."He was also critical of the state government for not giving him a categorical assurance on his padayatra. "I met the Chief Minister, the Home Minister and the DGP. I have not got any assurance. What I am seeking is what is guaranteed to me by the Constitution. I should be able to take out my yatra and none should stop it," he said.
