HYDERABAD: The District Institute of Education and Training Common Entrance Test (DIETCET) 2011 went off peacefully on Sunday.As many as 3.19 lakh candidates registered for the exam and about 2.92 lakh took the exam.The test was conducted by the Department of School Education for a two year Diploma in Education (D.Ed.) for Government District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET) and for private elementary teacher training institutions in the state.P Laxma Reddy, Convener, DIETCET 2011, told Express, the three hour long test went off peacefully at 1,362 centres across the state. A majority of the candidates were from Vizianagaram, Nizamabad and Warangal.The results will be out in 20 days, he said. The number of candidates who took the test this year was three times that of last year.“There was good turnout this year because of the Supreme Court's direction to allocate 30 per cent of the posts of those in District Selection Committee (DSC) to the candidates who qualified in D.Ed,” Reddy said.
