To mark the 62nd birthday of Housing Minister V Somanna, an udyog mela (job fair), was organised at the Mahatma Gandhi Grounds in Vijayanagar, on Friday to bring create job opportunities.
However, food seemed to be the centre of interest. The minister’s aides and followers had organised the event. Job aspirants, mostly from the Government First Grade College, and visitors, were offered a 25 kg rice packets, saris and specially designed motor vehicles for physically challenged.
441 get offer letters
Around 441 job aspirants got job offer letters on the spot. According to Allan Dias of Karnataka Vocational Training and Skill Development Corporation Limited, 3,947 candidates applied for various jobs with 57 recruiters in the mela. About 722 candidates were shortlisted, and 124 were selected for various training programmes.
According to Ravi G, training manager, Atria Hotels, job fair are a perfect platform to bring recruiters and job aspirants on one platform.
