J&K minister takes oath on his own
New J&K minister started taking oath of office and secrecy even before Governor could say 'I', drawing laughter.

Srinagar: People's Democratic Party's Javed Mustaffa Mir prostrated and kissed the ground at the Raj Bhavan immediately after being sworn in as the new Minister of State in Jammu and Kashmir by Governor Lt Gen (retd) S K Sinha on Tuesday.

Earlier, Mir started taking oath of office and secrecy even before the Governor could say 'I', drawing laughter from all those present at the swearing-in ceremony.

The Governor, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, his predecessor Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, National Conference Chief Omar Abdullah, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and almost all were all seen erupt in laughter over Mir's action.

Mir, who was seen carrying a pistol inside his coat, also began the oath by saying 'Bismillah (In the name of God)'. Before taking his seat, he went on to say thanks to Sayeed, Azad and others.

Besides Mir, those sworn in were Gulchain Singh Charak, Mohammad Dilawar Mir and Jugal Kishore, Dr Ramesh Chandra Sharma,

Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Prem Sagar Aziz, Sardar Manjit Singh, Peer Mohammad Hussain and Mohammad Khalil Bandh.

While Bandh took oath in Urdu, the rest opted for English. In Tuesday's expansion, no representation was given to the Kashmiri

Pandits, but a Sikh member was sworn in as a minister of state. All new ministers were seen saying thanks to their respective leaders after taking the oath.
