Srinagar: A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel was killed and another critically injured on Monday when two unidentified gunmen opened fire at them in the heart of Srinagar.
Police have cordoned off the area and stared a search operation to locate the terrorists. Police said the terrorists used silencer-fitted pistols and fired from a point blank range at the CISF personnel who were not carrying any arms with them.
They were rushed to a hospital in Srinagar, but one of them succumbed to the injuries, while the other is being treated, police said.
The CISF personnel were stationed at a power transmission station in Waghoora in Badgam. They had come to buy vegetables in the market when the terrorists shot at them.
Meanwhile, in Kupwara one terrorist killed on Monday security forces foiled an infiltration bid by intruders at the LoC.
