BANGALORE: A thieves’ gang entered a jewellery and pawn broker’s shop by drilling its rear wall and decamped with 2 kg of gold ornaments worth Rs 50 lakh.The incident was reported in Balaji Jewellers and Bankers located on Thambu Chetty Palya main road in K R Pura police station limits in the wee hours of Wednesday.The incident, which is suspected to have taken place between 1 am to 4 am, came to light when the owner of the shop Ramlal, a resident of Avalahalli, opened the shop at 9.30 am on the wee hours of Wednesday.According to the police, the miscreants gained entry into the shop by drilling the backside wall using a hammer, crow bar and other tools, which they have left behind.They gained entry by making a hole in the rear wall. Also, the safe locker in which the gold ornaments were kept is reportedly missing.Before escaping, they have also damaged the CCTV cameras installed inside the shop.“There is an open space behind the shop and the rear wall is built with low quality bricks.So they have not struggled hard to drill a hole in the wall. Even the safe lock was not fixed to the wall and was kept aside making their job easy.However, the miscreants have not touched other gold or silver articles which were kept for display,” the police added.The police suspect that a gang of professional thieves are behind the incident“Even we could not rule out the possibility of known persons behind the crimeWe are going through the CCTV footage that was recorded before thieves damaged it,” the police said.The shop owner Ramlal has filed a case in K R Pura police station.
