New Delhi: Income Tax officials have sealed the properties of Best Bakery massacre case prime eyewitness Zaheera Sheikh following her failure to reply to the notice issued by the IT department sometime ago
Zaheera is currently living in Thane in Maharashtra. She is said to have three bank accounts and the IT department of Vadodara division had earlier asked her to file returns for the period 2003-04, 2004-05 and 2005-06, which she didn't obey.
On Friday evening, the IT officials sealed three lockers of Zaheera in the Syndicate Bank. They also sealed her two plots, a house and a flat in Mumbai.
When contacted for her reaction, Zaheera said she would reply to the I-T department's notice only after she comes back to Vadodara.
Two weeks back, Zaheera Sheikh had been released from Nashik Jail after spending a total period of 15 months, including three months of imprisonment imposed on her by Mumbai Sessions Court.
According to Zaheera's advocate Umesh Deshpande, she learnt computer, dance, embroidery and sewing in jail and set an example for other prisoners.
According to the sources, her family members want Zaheera to stay in Gujarat, but she is keen to live in Mumbai and start a new life there.
Besides, her mother Sehrunnisa and sister Saira have been accused for perjury and declared absconding by the court.
