BANGALORE:Members of Coalition Against Corruption (CAC) on Friday observed ‘International Anti-Corruption Day’ at Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike(BBMP) Office. CAC is a joint initiative of Public Affairs Centre, Swabhimana, Rural Urban Training and Housing, Consumer Rights Education and Awareness Trust and Consumer Care Society and Karuna Trust.According to a CAC member, United Nation General Assembly, had designated December 9 as International Anti Corruption Day in order to raise awareness against corruption and the role of the convention in preventing it. “ India ratified it on May 1, 2011. This is the first international anti corruption day after India ratified the convention. It is a big responsibility on the part of the government to organise programs to create awareness against corruption. But government has completely failed to recognise this day,” CAC member said. CAC member added that they are observing the day. “We have created awareness against corruption among officials and public by pinning badges which state ‘I will not take or give bribe’.
