India will decide on whether to go ahead with the foreign secretary-level talks with Pakistan after a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, officials said on Wednesday night.
The decision(on FS talks) will be taken after the meeting," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup told reporters after Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar met Swaraj.
This comes after Pakistan media reported that Jaish-e-Mohamamd chief Maulana Masood Azhar, suspected by India to be the mastermind behind the recent Pathankot terror attack.
However, Swarup said there has been no official confirmation of the "detention" of Azhar.
"We have not been given any official confirmation on the arrest of Masood Azhar," Swaroop said.
Media reports from Pakistan said Azhar has been held in preventive custody -- which means he is a suspect , but has not specific charges against him.
Terrorists belonging to the JeM are believed by India to be behind the Pathankot terror attack on January 2 in which seven security personnel were killed.
India had hinged the fate of foreign secretary talks to Pakistan's action on Jaish. Foreign secretary S Jaishankar was set to travel to Islamabad this week for the talks.
