Impact: Mumbai cops file FIR for Karkare's 'missing jacket'
Karkare's bullet-proof jacket has been missing since the 26/11 night.

New Delhi: The Mumbai police has filed an FIR in the case of the missing bullet proof jacket of slain ATS chief Hemant Karkare in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

The Mazgaon court issued orders to the police to file an FIR to find out how and when the jacket went missing after social activist Santosh Daundkar filed a complaint alleging that Karkare was wearing bullet-proof jacket when he was killed.

The complainant had also filed a PIL in the Bombay High Court, saying the jacket was of inferior quality.

Daundkar had recently approached the police team in Azad Maidan who refused to register an FIR against unknown persons for the alleged theft of the jacket.

Hemant Karkare's body was taken to JJ Hospital for post-mortem on 26/11 night and the bullet-proof jacket has been missing since then.

Kavita, his widow, says she couldn't get more information about the mysterious disappearance of the jacket and believes her husband may have been saved had the jacket been of better quality.
