Fast talker-impressionist-event manager Tanvi Shah has many loves that her Jai Ho fans may not know of. Of late, she has been busy with her company CRX Sports and her new jewellery line that is all set to launch next month. Then, there’s her two-year-old great dane, Oscar, who we hear can sometimes be rather moody. In order to keep her sanity amidst all the activity, she also frequently runs on the treadmill or down the Boat Club Road for some fresh air. “I think I like running more these days because it helps you focus,” she says. Ask whether she has always been inclined towards fitness and Tanvi responds, “No, actually when I was younger, I was quite chubby.” Although it is evident that this artiste dips her fingers in several pies, she retorts simply, “Life’s too short.” Then says with a laugh, “And if I sing all the time, I would probably go coo-coo!”However, that said, Tanvi did attend the Latin Grammys held in Las Vegas, just last November. “I got to rub shoulders with artistes as big as Shakira, Pitbull and actor Mario Lopez,” Tanvi gushes excitedly. “It was amazing.” In fact, the singer is presently in the middle of international collaborations for a few Spanish songs. The complicated names tumble off her tongue quite easily, Titled, Todas Las Palabras and Lluvia Lejana, one wonders whether Tanvi has a Spanish tutor lurking on the sidelines. “Nope, it’s Jai Ho google for me,” she giggles. Then adds, “Actually, I’m writing some of my own Spanish lyrics as well.”On the Kollywood front, the artiste reveals that she is currently working on a song for a much-awaited Tamil sequel with music director Yuvan Shankar Raja. Ask her about her experience working with Yuvan and she responds candidly, “Yuvan is very chilled out, and he takes the time to connect with you while working.” Would a career in films ever be on the cards? All of a sudden the bubbly singer seems to have a case of nerves. “No”, she shudders. “I don’t like facing the camera.” There is a pause. “But if Mani sir asks me, I will definitely say yes!”
