Alexandria (Virginia): Zacarias Moussaoui told a member of an Asian Muslim terror group that he dreamed of crashing a plane into the White House, according to testimony at the al-Qaeda conspirator's death penalty trial.

Singapore born Faiz Abu Bakar Bafana, of the radical Indonesia based group Jemaah Islamiyah, said in testimony recorded in 2002 that a guest he knew only as "John" told him of the dream two years earlier.

Jurors were shown video of the testimony, and saw Bafana assert during cross-examination that "John" was Moussaoui.

Ironically, Moussaoui was instrumental in his own unmasking as the revelation came out when he was cross examining Bafana, in his former role as his own lawyer.

Moussaoui is the first person tried in the US in connection with the 9/11 attacks.

Though he was in detention at the time of the attacks, prosecutors argue Moussouai should be executed, because he knew Osama bin Laden's group planned to use airliners as weapons, but did not tell US authorities.

Bafana, who testified while in jail in Singapore, was asked to relate a conversation he had with "John," whom he had been asked to host by a fellow JI member, in his house.

"He told me he had a dream, flying an airplane into the White House," Bafana said.

The tape was recorded at a time when Moussaoui was conducting his own defence, and it was his cross-examination by satellite link up from the US courtroom that he inadvertently unmasked himself as "John."

Moussaoui asked Bafana to described "John". "He looks exactly like you," Bafana replied.
