SALEM: A notorious history sheeter surrendered before Salem Superintendent of Police N M Mayilvahanan here on Thursday. Thirumuruga Panidian (38), son of Ponram and native of Appanoorpatti near Valapadi, was involved in more than 10 heinous crimes, including murder, murder attempt and robberies. Recently, he was involved in a gang attack against the AIADMK men at Ammampalayam. An arrest warrant was already existing against him, but he was at large.House Gutted in LightningHousehold items worth `10 lakh were gutted in a thunderstrike on a farmhouse in Eechampatti near Attur on Wednesday night. Police sources said house owner Chandran (42) and family had gone to attend a festival at the Mariamman Temple in the village, when heavy rain and lightning hit the villages surrounding Attur. When Chandran and family came back, they found the house gutted. At least 100 litres of arrack were seized in the raid.  3 Wanted in Cheating CasePolice are on the look out for three persons who cheated Ramanathan of Thirupalaikudi in Ramnad by giving him coins claiming that they were  gold ones and relieving him of six sovereigns of jewellery on Wednesday. Ramanathan, who had returned recently from Malaysia was waiting for a bus at the bus stand when the incident occurred.
