The Otteri police have arrested a 36-year-old history sheeter and sexual offender, who was one of the prime accused in the death of jailer Jayakumar, for allegedly threatening and forcing a woman to surrender to his sexual desires on Monday.
Police said notorious history sheeter Kaviko alias K Vijaya Kumar (36) of Valluvan Street, Otteri, who was released from the Cuddalore Central Prison a month ago, had gone to the house of one M Shanthi (44) on Valluvan Street, Otteri, on Sunday and had allegedly threatened her to withdraw a complaint she had lodged against him in the year 2007. Police sources said Shanthi had an illicit affair with Vijay Kumar and he had assaulted her leaving her with severe injuries. Besides threatening her to withdraw the complaint against him, he also reportedly forced her to give in to his physical urges. He even attempted to strangle her. “He is a notorious pervert. He would be on drugs and would force any woman he sees to give in to his sexual urges. He would attack those women who do not give in and would also attack anyone coming for their rescue,” a police official said.
Based on a fresh complaint from Shanthi, Vijay Kumar was arrested and lodged in the Cuddalore Central Prison.
According to police, Vijay Kumar was in hiding ever since he was released from Cuddalore Prison a month back.
