Mumbai: Among all the festival releases this month, the one that is creating a lot of buzz is Himesh Reshammiya starrer Karzz. The movie which is a remake of Subhash Ghai’s 1980s blockbuster Karz is now directed by Satish Kaushik. The director talks to CNN-IBN correspondent Piya Hingorani about the movie.
Filmmaker Satish Kaushik has given Salman Khan one of his biggest hits and Anil Kapoor one of his biggest flops.
A remake of Subhash Ghai's super hit classic, the filmmaker admits that it won't be an easy job to recreate the spirit of the Rishi Kapoor starrer Karz.
“It is quite tough to re-create but should not take an attitude to out do the original, classic you cannot out do. But you can pay respect and tribute to that film. This worked at that time and this has a great appeal to the audience because Karz is a story that will remain forever,” says Kaushik.
Even if the remake doesn't live upto the expectations, the new Kaushik's Karzz will be remembered for making the stiff Himesh Reshammiya shake a leg.
“Himesh has moved very easily on stage as a rock star which his character is and he has done very well. It was very easy for him. The choreographer didn't have to teach him or anything. Some steps like Tandoori night he going like this or clapping like this he had to learn but he rehearsals for that,” says the director.
The all new Karzz is releasing on October 17 with a whopping 1100 prints - quite an ambitious scale for a Himesh.
