CUTTACK: The Orissa High Court on Friday directed the Government to produce the up to date case diary in the murder of Hindol block chairman Nabaghan Sahoo in May this year. After hearing the PIL filed by one Prasant Mishra and other local residents of Hindol appealing for a CBI probe into the murder, the division bench directed additional Government advocate Bikram Kishore Nayak to produce the dairy within a week.  According to case records, the Chairman of Hindol Panchayat Samiti, while returning from morning walk in May, was hit by a Scorpio SUV from behind. He succumbed to his injuries. Upon the complaint of the brother of Sahoo, police investigated the case and found prima facie evidence of murder and registered a case accordingly Since there was allegation of involvement of powerful politicians, the Government had transferred the investigation to Criome Branch, which has arrested two persons.  The petitioners, who are villagers of the area, have alleged that Minister for Women and Child Welfare Anjali Behera and other powerful politicians were involved in the murder. With such people involved, the Crime Branch being a Government organ may not be able to investigate the killing properly. The case should therefore be handed over to the CBI.  Meanwhile, the mother of Nabaghana Sahoo Durmila has also filed another petition seeking a CBI probe into the incident.
