THRISSUR: Health Minister Adoor Prakash has warned that stern action would be initiated against the doctors who went on long leave after joining duty.At  the state meeting of Government Hospital Nursing Assistants’ and Attenders’ Staff Association at Kerala Sahitya Akademi on Friday, the minister complained that many doctors were taking long leave after joining government hospitals. But they were not ready to leave the job because of the lucrative retirement benefits, he said.  He said this was happening at a time where there is a lack of doctors in several hospitals in rural areas.  The minister asked, “Is there a need of such doctors in government service?”  Prakash said a number of problems were engulfing the health sector in the state. There was a need to inquire into the appointment of employees in the fag end of LDF rule in Kerala, he added. Therambil Ramakrishnan MLA, DCC president V Balaram, Cooperation Minister C N Balakrishnan were present at the meet.
