CHENNAI:The Madras High Court today reserved its orders on two petitions filed by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in the Rs two crore "birthday gift" case against her.According to the CBI, on the occassion of her birthday in 1992, the AIADMK supremo had accepted 89 demand drafts worth Rs two crore from 57 persons drawn on various banks in the state on her name.While 12 names were found to be fictitious,12 others denied that they had purchased DDs and 33 confirmed the purchase and presentation of DDs to Jayalalithaa.Jayalalithaa had moved the High Court seeking to quash the entire proceedings.She also filed another petition challenging an order of the designated CBI court dismissing her application seeking discharge from the case.After hearing arguments from the CBI and counsel for Jayalalithaa, Justice K N Basha reserved his order.
