BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Friday warned the South Western Railways for not paying compensation to the farmers, whose land was acquired to lay the goods track between Bangalore to Guntakal.The High Court and directed the Divisional Railway Manager, Akhil Agrawal to pay the compensation within seven days or be sent to jail. The Court also directed him to be present in the next hearing. A petition was filed by Krishnappa and others stating that even after the Court’s direction Railways did not pay the compensation amount. It has been one-and-half years now.The Railways’ appeal to the division bench, comprising Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice A S Bopanna, to be given some more time to deposit the compensation amount was rejected.
