THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Noted danseuse and activist Mallika Sarabhai on Tuesday termed the arrest of Anna Hazare ‘’unfortunate’’ and called for the continuation of the struggle against corruption.  Addressing two separate fasts organised at the Martyr’s Column at Palayam here, to express solidarity with Hazare, Sarabhai said the struggle against corruption was not aimed at the UPA Government alone, but against all political parties. “It is up to all political parties to show their will to fight corruption. Let one representative each from all political parties meet Anna Hazare and talk. What brings all political parties together is their complicity in corruption,’’ she said, stressing that the people must be taken into confidence.Democracy is not about voting alone,’’ she said.  Separate fasts were organised by the Thiruvananthapuram Poura Samithi and India Against Corruption Trivandrum demanding action against corruption and black money and implementation of the Jan Lokpal Bill. Sculptor Kanayi Kunhiraman said democracy becomes meaningful only when the people have the right to bring down a government that fails to deliver on its promises. Activist and former Naxalite Philip M Prasad said that India has three options at this juncture: to continue in a decayed existence, to change without resorting to ‘planned conspiratorial violence,’ or, to surrender to the naxalites. Activists of the Thiruvananthapuram Poura Samithi launched a symbolic protest with their mouths gagged, while IAC-Trivandrum urged the public to register their protest online.   Former Union Minister O Rajagopal, BJP state president V Muraleedharan, architect Shankar, Col R G Nair were among those present.
