Antiquity Club Fusion, the flagship music platform of super-premium label Antiquity, now in its third season, presented the soul stirring first ever fusion of Sufi harmony with western rhythm with music legends, Kailash Kher and Leslie Lewis on October 29. This debut collaboration by both the artistes created a new paradigm for the fusion music aficionados in India. In Bangalore, the duo’s performance set the stage ablaze with music lovers cheering for more.Debashish Shyam, DVP Marketing, United Spirits Limited, said, “Antiquity is the most expensive Indian label. Antiquity caters to the crème de la crème seeking exquisite lifestyle experiences. Fusion music is one such avenue that appeals to Antiquity’s discerning consumers. Antiquity Club Fusion, launched last year, is designed for this differentiated fulfilment. Third edition of Antiquity Club Fusion continues to live up to its promise of creating an unmatched sophisticated entertainment evening with both these versatile music legends.”Kailash Kher has to his credit, music composition for songs in more than two dozen films across the Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam genres, as a lyricist and a music director in over fifteen films put together. He has also acted in a few Bollywood flicks like Mangal Pandey and Corporate. His signature earthy voice and Sufi style singing has won him critical acclaim. Songs like Saiyyan, Teri Deewani, continue to top the charts even today. Leslie Lewis introduced the genre of fusion music in India way back in the 1990s with the launch of the first fusion album, Colonial Cousins. This marked the beginning of a new era in the non- film based music in India and there has been no looking back for Leslie since then. Leslie composed the music for albums including Rahul & I, Paree Hoon Main, Bombay Girl, Pal. Leslie has also made his mark on the Tamil film industry composing music for recent flick Chikku Bukku.Speaking on the occasion, Kailash Kher said, “I am here to take the best from Indian music, using the best of Indian music instruments, and present earthy and original melodies. Music platforms like Antiquity Club Fusion herald a welcome change in musical entertainment, especially as it brings together artists from different genres to create something that has never been seen or heard before. It’s a pleasure to harmonise my work with Leslie on the Antiquity stage.”Leslie Lewis echoed the same excitement. “It’s heartening to see what I started ten years ago, has caught on with the discerning Indian audience who have made fusion music their preference for entertainment. Performing on the Antiquity Club Fusion platform, with Kailash, will be a memorable experience for both of us and I am sure, it is for the audience too.”Antiquity which has always been associated with fusion music had earlier presented all-girls band D Major with Stereo nation, followed by the world renowned DJ Diamond with India’s most sought-after DJ Whosane. So this year the bringing together of the finest proponents of Indian and western music, Kailash Kher and Leslie Lewis was an obvious choice, that once again produced an electrifying effect on the audience that kept them enthralled throughout the performance.Kailash and Leslie will be touring Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi in this season of Antiquity Club Fusion.
