All Jharkhand Students Union chief Sudesh Mahto on Thursday said the formation of the new government in the state by JMM, Congress and RJD was not the solution for the future of Jharkhand and there should have been a fresh mandate.  "The attempt in forming the government is not the proper step.

A fresh mandate is the only solution to bring political stability in the state," Mahto, also the former deputy chief minister, said while speaking against the vote of confidence moved by Chief Minister Hemant Soren government.

Six MLAs of AJSU voted against the motion in the House.  Barring a few compulsions, JMM and Congress had no faith in each other, while RJD had joined the alliance for "political protection", Mahto claimed. "They (JMM, Congress and RJD) formed the government on the condition of jointly contesting the next Lok Sabha elections.

Congress will contest in ten (LS seats) and JMM has settled for four seats (out of the total 14 LS seats in the state)," he said.  Taking a dig at Hemant Soren, Mahto said it would have been good had it been nine governments in 45 years but it was the ninth in 13 years and only 16 months were left for the term of the House to end.

He questioned the wisdom of some leaders who had argued that fresh elections would incur financial burden.  "It would take Rs 50 crore to hold fresh elections, while during the last six months (under President's rule) we surrendered Rs 5,000 crore earmarked for development."
