CHENNAI: Four persons, including a retired revenue divisional officer (RDO), were killed on the spot in a multiple collision involving a state transport corporati-on bus (STC) and two other vehicles, near Madurantakam, in Kancheepuram district on Monday.Of the four passengers injured in the accident, three were seriously injured and were hospitalised.Sources said the collision took place, when STC bus 83A from Chennai to Pudu-cherry rammed into a Tata Sumo parked on the side of the road at Karunguzhi, ne-ar Madurantakam around 9.45 am. Retd RDO Subramanian (63), Seeman (56), Selvaraj, Ravi and Mahes-wari were travelling in the Tata Sumo from Chengalpattu to Melmaruvathur.After a tyre burst, the driver Murthy stopped the MUV to change the tyre, when the STC bus rammed into it, killing Subramanian and Seeman on the spot. From the impact, the Su-mo went across the median and hit a car coming in the opposite direction from Puducherry to Chennai. Occupants of the car, Sabapathy of Virugambakkam and Bhoominathan of West Mambalam, died.The injured persons, Selvaraj, Uma Maheswari and Ravi, and a bus passenger Devadoss were first taken to the Chengalpattu hospital for first aid and were later referred to a Chennai hospital, the sources said.
