THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Fireworks Licencees’ and Employees’ Association has protested against the harassment by authorities citing a law that is over a hundred years old. The state president of the association J Subhodhan in a meeting of the office-bearers of the association said that there should be some leniency in the law to ensure the livelihood of the employees of this sector. The approach of the authorities in matters such as stocking of gun powder as well as treating them has a negative effect on the licencees as well as the employees, said Subhodhan. Unless there is a change in attitude of the authorities, the fireworks at Sabarimala, Thrissur and a number of churches and mosques will get affected, he said.
