MADURAI: Those found flouting the rules under the Tamil Nadu Regulation of Jallikattu Act would be fined Rs 10,000 or sentenced to one-year imprisonment or both, said District Collector U Sagayam.Speaking at a consultative meeting held at the Collectorate here on Friday for the conduct of Jallikattu at Avaniyapuram, Palamedu and Alanganallur, the Collector said that those who fail to abide by the conditions set by the Supreme Court and the rules of Tamil Nadu Regulation of Jallikattu Act, would be liable for Rs 10,000 fine or one year jail or both.Jallikattu should be conducted in a safe manner. “To ensure the safety of spectators, double barricading of the arena at a height of eight feet should be erected. Sufficient gallery space should be in place for spectators. The safety certificate for the stability of the galleries should be obtained from the Public Works Department,” the Collector told  the organisers and officials.Not more than four persons should attempt to tame a bull at a time. Only one bull should be let in to the arena at a time, the Collector said.Only the bulls that have been registered should be allowed and the horns should be painted in golden yellow colour. The registration number of the bull should also be written on the horns. If the horns are sharpened, they should be covered with a wooden caps.
