TIRUVARUR: DMK treasurer Stalin said that the party lost the Assembly polls as the party did not focus properly on youth voters.Addressing a meeting organised by the youth wing of the party here on Monday, Stalin said that the DMK while giving importance to elderly population failed to take note of the youth force. He recalled that during the anti-Hindi stir in the State in 1960s when the top brass was in jail or under house arrest, it was the youth wing that toiled hard to earn victory for the party and place the DMK in the seat of power. TN’s youth population was a leading force behind the party’s first victory in the State. Slowly and steadily youngsters got the due recognition in the party when the youth wing was formed first in Madurai in 1980, he said. Pointing out that in order to make the youth wing stronger and active, senior leaders suggested that only those below 30 years should be enrolled in the wing, he termed the rule as a revolutionary one.Party’s youth wing leaders M Subramanium, Sampath, Sugavanam and trict secretary Poondi K Kalaivanan were present.
