KOCHI: Twenty six-year-old engineer Merin Issac, who was seriously injured in an explosion in one of the power panels of Moolamattom Power House in Idukki last week, succumbed to injuries this morning, hospital sources said.Merin, Assistant Engineer, had been undergoing treatment at the Ernakulam Medical Centre for 70 per cent burns.Besides Merin, another engineer Prabha K S (52) was also injured and is undergoing treatment.The two were taking a routine reading when the mishap occurred on June 20.Moolamattam is the power station for Kerala's biggest Hydel power project-- the 780 mw Idukki project, which accounts for nearly 60 per cent of the state's domestic electricity production.
