CHENNAI: In connection with the construction of the eastern arm of the grade separator at Mint Junction to be taken up by the Corporation, the Greater Chennai Traffic has announced restrictions on traffic movement in and around Mint Junction, which would be effective from Saturday. The movement of lorries towards Mint via Basin Bridge will be restricted from 6 am to 11 pm.Lorries coming from Madavaram along the EH Road will not be allowed towards Mint via Basin Bridge and will instead be diverted at Ethiraj Salai and EH Road junction to TH Road - RK Nagar - Vaidhiyanadhan Bridge - SN Chetty Street to reach their destinations.Similarly, lorries coming from Ambattur will not be allowed towards Mint. They will be diverted at Ambedkar College to EH road - Ethiraj Salai - TH road - RK Nagar - Vaidhiyanadhan Bridge - SN Chetty Street route.Lorries coming from Harbour and proceeding west towards Vyasarpadi - Madhavaram will not be allowed to use the Old Jail Road. They will be diverted at Thambu Chetty Point to take the route via SN Chetty Street - Vaidhiyanadhan Bridge - RK Nagar - TH Road - Ethiraj Salai - EH road to reach their destinations.The existing MTC bus depot located near Mint will be temporarily shifted to Padavattamman Koil Street near North Wall Road. Vehicles will not be allowed to turn right from Old Jail Road towards Tondiarpet. Traffic from Old Jail Road towards Tondiarpet will be diverted via the North Wall Road - Padavattamman Koil Street and thereafter take a ‘U’ turn on Basin Bridge Road towards Parthasarathy Bridge. Vehicles starting from Mint Street will not be allowed to proceed towards Parthasarathy Bridge. These vehicles will be diverted via the North Wall Road - Padavattamman Koil Street route and then take a ‘U’ turn on Basin Bridge Road to reach Parthasarathy Bridge.
