Despite talking the pole position at the Silverstone for the British Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton feels that it would be tough to beat Red Bull for the chequered flag. Hamilton and teammate Nico Rosberg had made it a 1-2 for Mercedes in the qualifying on Saturday.
"Undoubtedly it's going to be tough to keep Sebastian behind us," Hamilton said as quoted by BBC, "but our long-run pace wasn't as bad as we've seen in the past, so I'm hoping with the temperatures and a bit of care we can nurture the tyres to get a good result. I'm going to be pushing, giving my all, as I'm sure Nico will, to finish up ahead."
Mercedes have struggled throughout the season with heavy tyre usage in race conditions but Hamilton was hopeful that the team will get better. "We are getting closer but I don't feel we are there yet. We'll do what we can. We're in the best position to fight," the Brit added.
"We have made changes to the car all along, trying to understand it better but it's very complex," he said. "But for sure there are other teams doing a better job on Sundays, notably probably the Red Bulls who are just behind us.
