New Delhi: The 'SlutWalk' in Delhi, which was originally scheduled for June 25, has been postponed to the last week of July.

'SlutWalk' originally started in Toronto, as a response to a police officer who said "women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimised."

After leaving an impact in Toronto, it further went on to become a success in many big cities across the globe.

Mishika Singh of Kamla Nehru College, one of the organisers of the event told IBNLive, "The date and venue of the event is yet to be finalised". As the organisers are expecting more participation after Delhi University gets fully functional after the admissions and summer break.

She added, "We are looking for maximum women participation, so it can have the desired results and impact. The word is already spreading with the help of social networking sites, but that attracts only limited audience."

The organisers are going all-out to make people aware, they plan to perform street plays, put up posters and distribute hand-outs. This will involve certain funds and finance, and it remains to be seen which biggies in the market will take interest and get associated to the cause.

The protest is against sexual violence in Delhi. The city of over 15 million residents, is considered to be one of the most unsafe cities in the country. It has had a blot on its image because of safety concerns.

After, creating ripples in many prominent cities, it will be interesting to see what will be Delhi's response to the 'walk'.
