DDA has finalised the Delhi Master Plan 2021 and has forwarded it to the Urban Development Ministry for approval.

New Delhi: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has finalised the Delhi Master Plan 2021 and has forwarded it to the Urban Development Ministry for approval.

Some of the provisions are sure to bring a smile to the face of traders for the DDA has included Municipal Council of Delhi (MCD)-notified 2,183 roads and another 120 roads for mixed land use - that is areas where housing and commercial units can exist side by side.

This will bring some relief to traders whose establishments were sealed by the MCD on the Supreme Court's order as they were situated in areas which were residential and could not be used for commercial purposes.

Besides, small shops of daily needs have been permitted in residential areas. The plan also said that there would be no height restrictions for group housing schemes.

It has also provisions for allowing commercial activity without any sealing threat in the pre-1962 constructed markets. Many illegal colonies would also get legalised too.

One of the major developments in the new master plan is that it has laid down principles for reviewing it at every five years.

The perspective plans for water, power, drainage and solid waste management of service agencies is a part of MPD - 2021. Public-private participation is also envisaged in the land assembly and development.
