On its foundation day, BJP workers on Sunday carried out a massive door-to-door campaign across the national capital seeking people's support to wrest all the seven Lok Sabha seats from Congress in the April 10 election in the city.

Party's senior leaders, candidates, MLAs, councillors and district and block presidents went on a house-to-house campaign and held meetings at block level as part of the mega exercise.

In 2009 Lok Sabha polls, Congress had won all the seven seats in the national capital.

In a separate statement, Chairman of Delhi BJP's Election Management and Campaign Committee VK Malhotra said it has never happened that the incumbent Prime Minister was not addressing any election meeting.

"Manmohan Singh is the Prime Minister of India for the last 10 years. The 2009 Loksabha election was contested under his leadership. But this time he has not addressed even a singly meeting in Delhi were he lives. In its advertisements, the Congress party has not mentioned his name," he said.

Malhotra said all senior leaders of BJP including Modi, LK Advani, Arun Jaitley, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Ramlal, Prabhat Jha, Satpal Maharaj and Vijay Goel have addressed rallies in Delhi.

"Congress party has collapsed due to widespread corruption and internal fighting," he said.

In Chandni Chowk constituency, addressing a number of meetings, Delhi unit chief and party nominee Harsh Vardhan appealed to the people to reject Congress and AAP and extend support to BJP to ensure that Narendra Modi becomes the Prime Minister.

"We need your support to win all the seven seats. The BJP will provide good governance to the country," he said.

BJP leader and actor Shatrughan Sinha also addressed election meetings in support Vardhan.

In his address, he said they have an opportunity to choose between an "honest public servant, corrupt minister and an opportunist journalist".

Union Minister Kapil Sibal from Congress and Ashutosh, a journalist-turned-politician from AAP, are in the fray in the constituency.

In his address, Vardhan congratulated party men on the occasion of BJP's foundation day and said all BJP workers were looking forward to formation of Modi Government.

In a symposium organised by an NGO, Vardhan introduced the BJP s slogan 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas' and assured the gathering that development of all irrespective of religion, caste or creed will be top priority of BJP government

In his meeting with the traders community in Civil Lines area, Vardhan assured that after coming to power, BJP will reconsider FDI in retail and curb alleged corruption in VAT and excise departments by forming Traders Advisory Committees.
