New Delhi: CNN-IBN's special investigation showing how Mayawati owns many more assets than her known income has rattled the BSP chief.

While the CNN-IBN story was based on documents submitted by the CBI in the court, Mayawati has threatened to take legal action against the news channel.

She has demanded Rs 10 crore as damages for what she has termed a 'false report'.

In its report, CNN-IBN tracked down Mayawati's bank accounts. The CNN-IBN investigation also tracked down her commercial establishments, including a farmhouse in New Delhi and acres and acres of agricultural land in Bulandshahr in western Uttar Pradesh.

Documents available with CNN-IBN show assets in Mayawati's name are 300 per cent more than her declared income.

Assets belonging to her relatives, which in turn have been linked to her, stand at a shocking 700 per cent more than her declared income.

There is agricultural land worth Rs 19,81,150 in her name in Bulandsahar alone.

CBI sources say that in most cases the land records were doctored. The records show that Mayawati bought all these from her father.

There is a long list of benami properties worth Rs 88,10,799 in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal bought between 1995 to 2003 - in the name of her father, mother, brother, sister-in-law and a host of other relatives.

Sources say that Mayawati is the de-facto beneficiary of all these properties as she had the power-of-attorney done in her name.

Unaccounted money amounting to Rs 2,27,94,533 has been stashed in account number 9195 in Union Bank of India's Motibagh branch in New Delhi.

Mayawati also has Rs 23,45,539 in her bank account (number 01190/526277) in the Parliament House branch of State Bank of India.

In addition, 51 bank accounts held by her relatives in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi have been linked to her.

These accounts have a total of Rs 4,84,63,697 stashed in them.

After two years of investigation, the CBI has found a long list of disproportionate assets worth Rs 8,77, 91,949 and Rs 7,36,03,769 of unaccounted money along with several crore of investment in the stock market in the name of Mayawati.
