THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The general discussion on the organisational report, presented at the district conference of the CPM which is under way here, has taken exception to the activities of some leaders and party cadre, responsible for the defeat of the LDF candidates in the Assembly polls. The delegates participating in the discussion have called for action against those responsible for the defeat. The report, presented by district secretary Kadakampally Surendran, stated that the party cadre work was not satisfactory in Nedumangad, Parassala, Varkala and Kazhakoottam constituencies.The conference also passed resolutions calling for the withdrawal of Food Security Bill and introduction of Universal Rationing System. The resolution pointed out that when the Food Security Bill is introduced, those who now receive 35 kg of food grains at `1 per kg, will be given only 25 kg. Another resolution called for the reinstatement of the PF interest rate at 9.5 per cent instead of the reduced rate of 8.25 per cent. The resolutions also urged for air port development and establishment of High Court Bench here. It called for vigil against the attempt to break Kudumbashree. The delegates criticised V S Achuthanandan’s anti-Politburo stand on the Mullaperiyar issue.  While going critical on the VS statement, some of the delegates said that his open statement could have been avoided.The conference also has been critical of the Politburo. Delegates pointed out that the immature leadership at the Centre had contributed to the defeat of the party in West Bengal.The discussion on the report was concluded by evening. On Saturday, following the reply to the discussion on the report, the conference will elect the new district committee and secretary. As the state conference will be held here in February, the public meeting and demonstration were avoided for the district conference.
