New Delhi: The Bihar government is doing all it can to improve it’s branding as one of the most corrupt states.
The government, to check arbitrary and frequent transfers of police officers, has decided to have a two-year fixed term for officers from the level of officer-in-charge of a police station to the state police chief.
The first step that the government has decided to take towards wider police reforms is to make the process of selecting the police chief more transparent.
The Supreme Court recently directed all states to introduce police reforms in accordance with the recommendations of the Soli Sorabjee panel. It also asked states to set up state security committees and segregate law and order duties from investigations.
