CHENNAI: Following an appeal by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to the public to donate liberally for the relief and restoration works in Cuddalore as it was battered by cyclone Thane, the CM’s Relief Fund received Rs 12.51 crore as contribution on Wednesday. With this, the total contributions stood at `19.53 crore.Those who contributed on Wednesday were: Transport Minister V Senthil Balaji (on behalf of the employees of the State-owned transport corporations — Rs 6.85 crore), V R Venkatachalam, Chancellor of Sri Ramachandra University (Rs 51.11 lakh), C Sivasankaran, chairman, Siva Group (Rs 2 crore), Prof R Sethuraman, vice-chancellor, Sastra University, Thanjavur (on behalf of the students, the university and its employees — Rs 1.24 crore), Ravi Pachamuthu, pro vice-chancellor, SRM University and chairman of SRM Group (Rs 50 lakh), V Balu, proprietor, Sri Valli Vilas, Cuddalore (Rs 25 lakh), V K Marimuthu, secretary, (on behalf of AIADMK’s Cuddalore West district — Rs 25 lakh), P Mannar Jawahar, vice chancellor, Anna University (one day salary of teaching faculty and employees — Rs 20 lakh), Colonel G Thiruvasagam (one day salary of teaching faculty and employees — Rs 15 lakh), R Sarathkumar, AISMK president Rs 10 lakh), South Indian Film Artistes Association (Rs 5 lakh), S Meganathan, chairman, Rajalakshmi Educational Institutions (Rs 10 lakh), Dr Vaigai Selvam, AIADMK MLA (one year salary — Rs 6 lakh), J Srinivasan, secretary, Jayalalithaa Peravai’s Tiruchy city unit (Rs 5.2 lakh), T Paranthaman, president, Towers Club, Chennai (Rs 5 lakh), T R Anbazhagan, secretary, Jayalalithaa Peravai (Rs 5.2 lakh), V Jaishankar, joint secretary, MGR Mandram’s Tirunelveli district unit (Rs 4.77 lakh) and retired IPS officer R Nataraj (Rs 10,000).
