The Special Investigation Team which probed the TP Chandrasekharan murder filed the charge sheet before the Vadakara First Class Judicial Magistrate Court on Monday.
The 1000-page charge sheet, filed by Crime Branch Crime Investigation Department DySP K V Santhosh Kumar, listed members of the killer gang - Anoop, Manoj Kumar alias Kirmani Manoj, N K Sunil Kumar alias Kodi Suni, T K Rajeesh alias T K, K K Mohammed Shafi, Sijith S alias Annan and K Shinoj - as the first seven accused while CPM leaders face charges of engaging in criminal conspiracy and harbouring culprits.
Kunnummakkara local committee member K C Ramachandran, CPM Onchiyam area secretary C H Ashokan, Onchiyam area member K K Krishnan, Panur area committee member P K Kunjananthan and CPM Kozhikode district secretariat member P Mohanan are arraigned as eighth, ninth, tenth, 13th and 14th accused respectively. CPM Kannur district secretariat Karayi Rajan is the 26th accused. Other CPM leaders listed as accused in the case include state committee member K K Ragesh, Orkatteri local committee member Padayamkandi Raveendran, branch committee members Jyothi Babu, Manojan, Koothuparamba area secretary M Dhananjayan and area committee office secretary Babu.
The report added that further investigation into the larger conspiracy other than the first 14 accused and about the persons who provided assistance to K Shinoj and Rajikanth- the seventh and 25th accused-- to go into exile will be conducted and the report on the proceedings will be intimated after the completion of the probe. SIT has also submitted the list of 285 witnesses who testified.
