New Delhi: The cricket world could be heading towards a split, over whether to take part in the Champions Trophy in Pakistan or not.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) is holding a teleconference on Thursday to decide on whether the Champions Trophy can go ahead in Pakistan.
Australian media reports claim that if the tournament can't be moved out of Pakistan then Australia, New Zealand, England and South Africa are sure to pull out of the tournament after independent security assessments carried out by them said that the country was unsafe.
In fact the newspaper Australian quotes player representatives of both Australia and New Zealand saying they simply cannot recommend their players to go to Pakistan in the current scenario.
The Pakistan Cricket Board for its part is determined to hold the tournament and has the backing of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
However, if some of the major teams pull out, then the tournament will be robbed of its credibility.
