BANGALORE: Ending the uncertainty over his participation in the party’s campaign for the Bellary byelection to be held on November 30, former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa on Thursday announced that he would campaign for party candidate Gadhilingappa. After participating in the party’s meeting to chalk out the strategy for the Bellary bypoll, Yeddyurappa told reporters that he would campaign for the party candidate for three days starting Monday. Last week, Yeddyurappa had announced that he would not participate in the campaign due to some “special reasons”.During the two-hour meeting, party top leaders, including Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, state BJP president K S Eshwarappa, ministers and MLAs discussed the strategy to be adopted by the party to face Bellary strongman B Sriramulu. The meeting also decided to bury differences within the party and face the election under a collective leadership. While addressing the meeting, Yeddyurappa is said to have expressed confidence of the party’s victory provided all leaders put up a united fight. “There is a favourable atmosphere for the party in Bellary. Voters there are fed up with attitude of the Reddy brothers and Sriramulu and we should utilise this opportunity,” Yeddyurappa said. The meeting has also decided to shut the party’s doors on Sriramulu forever even if he manages to win the byelection. “We have decided not to entertain Sriramulu any more,” state BJP spokesman Ayanur Manjunath told reporters.
