Chandigarh: In yet another suspected honour killing, the body of a 20-year-old youth, who belonged to a Dalit family, was found on the bank of a canal in Badni village in Moga district, police said on Tuesday.
Gagandeep Singh who was allegedly killed on Tuesday for having an affair with a Jat Sikh girl, of Lamma Jattpura village of Jagroan in Punjab, was missing since Saturday after eloping with the girl, they said.
The couple was caught by the girl's relatives Kulwant, Sukhchain and Jugraj Singh at Jagraon bus stand, some 150 km from Chandigarh, they added.
Acting on the complaint of the boy's family, the girl's three relatives were arrested and upon questioning they revealed having taken the boy to Badni area and murdering him, police said.
A case of murder against the trio has been registered, they said.
Last week, a case of honour killing was reported from Nawanshahar district of Punjab where the boy was beaten to death by the girl's relatives.
