As help pours in from all quarters, Bollywood also chips in to help the quake survivors.

New Delhi: As relief pours in for earthquake victims from across the country, Jaag India, a group formed by eminent members of the film industry, is doing its bit to lessen the agony of the October 8 earthquake survivors.

The group that was conceptualised after the July 26 deluge to help flood victims in Mumbai has now gone a step further.

Headed by prominent film and TV personalities like Mahesh Bhatt, Vinta Nanda, Anu Ranjan, Soni Razdan and Ashok Pandit, the association will organise various events in Mumbai from November 2005 to Feb 2006 to raise funds not only for the October 8 quake victims but also for immediate assistance incase a calamity hits in future.

Says Indian Television Academy President Anu Ranjan, ?We are planning some fashion shows to raise money which will be put in a capital fund and disbursed as and when required.?

Mahesh Bhatt?s films Holiday and Kalyugwill be premiered by Jaag India and their proceeds will go to the quake victims.

According to Actor Vivek Oberoi the process has begun and people are coming forward on individual levels to help the quake victims.

?It's a small effort coming from the film industry to help people who have lost everything. The magnitude of this natural calamity demands every effort to ensure normalcy,? he said.
