BANGALORE: While many departments await the CCTV footages to get a major breakthrough in the probe into fire mishap, police are uncertain if this evidence will help them in tracing the miscreants behind the incident.Speaking to Express, K N Jithendranath, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Halasuru Gate sub-division said, “As there are many entrances through which miscreants could have entered the BBMP annexe building, there are chances that they might have escaped the CCTVs.”Stating some earlier examples, he said “In many jewellery thefts, CCTV footages are of mere assistance as the faces of miscreants have less visibility. It depends on the angle, how and where all the CCTV’s are installed and the image quality of the footage. As the fire incident happened at night, the images may not be clear even if the CCTV caught the miscreants on camera”.Expressing that the BMTF police should have appointed a sentry to guard the station he said, “It is a public office which allows common man inside the premises. We have started the probe have not received any CCTV footage. Officials from Forensic Science laboratory and various others have started collecting samples on the second day. We will submit our report soon after all the samples are collected.
