BANGALORE: Metro, which is currently undergoing the oscillation trials, is expected to complete all formalities by June 23.According to an official from Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the Oscillation and Emergency Brake Distance trial of Metro will conclude on June 23, after that Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) will issue a new speed certificate to Bangalore Metro.BMRCL, after that, has to approach the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) asking him to conduct the safety inspection. The oscillation and emergency brake trials are expected to be carried out in full swing from Monday. The RDSO officials, who arrived in the city on June 6, have been busy installing the equipment onto the rail. The instrumentation of Metro coaches got completed on June 9 following which the RDSO conducted trials to test the instrumentation.Earlier, speaking to Express, Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) D K Singh had said,” After the approval from RDSO, if BMRCL meets all our parameters, we can carry out the safety inspection in three to four days.” For Bangaloreans, the wait for Metro has been a long and trying one. However, even now, only time will tell how much more time will it still take for the 6.7 km stretch between Byappanahalli to M G Road to become operational. It is a double whammy for the citizens of Bangalore, who for the last three years, have been braving the bad roads in the city.On the stretch between Byappanahalli and M G Road, there is no sign of Metro rail chugging anytime soon and the BMRCL officials have also been slow on taking up the road repair work. Earlier, BMRCL had said that it would take up the renovation of the roads and repairing of the pavements as soon as the project draws closing to finishing. However, even now when Bangalore Metro main construction work is complete, there is no sign of any activity from the company.
